“Beehive” pillboxes are a peculiar bunker design that was found mostly in the north of England. Originally made from concrete filled sandbags, these defences gave the impression of being simply being a bulletproof sandbag enclosure when in reality the walls were 2 feet of concrete. Often found in Northumberland and Cumbria, they are usually rounded or D shaped with 3 wood lined loopholes for rifles or LMGs.
MarDav miniatures now has models of these beehive bunkers available. The models is designed with a removable roof to allow internal access.
