Following a number of European Theatre releases, Askari Miniatures has returned to the Middle East with the release of two squads of Moroccan Goumiers. Each squad consists of 11 figures:
1 French officer
1 French NCO
8 Goumiers with rifles
1 Goumier with a BAR
The organization and equipment (Springfield rifles, U.S. belts and helmets) reflects the Goumiers as they were re-organized and supplied by the Americans following Operation Torch. One sqaud is sculpted with Turbans, the other has brodie helmets
The Goumiers were skilled mountain fighters and were instrumental in breaking through the German defenses in the fourth and final battle of Monte Cassino in May 1944.
