A pre-War Czech design, the 38T tank, and its many variants, ultimately proved to be one of the most enduring tanks of WW2. Initially the Germans were happy to use the captured Czech tanks to fill out the ranks of their Panzer corps. The German also passed many of these models to their European Axis allies who continued to use the tank until late into the war. But as the Germans withdrew the tank from front line service it lived on as the basis for a number of tank destroyers, including the well known Hezter 38t.
