Shooting and Scooting

boltaltaction

After recently dropping some terrian model, deweycat production is back to vehciles with the release of a US T12 Half-Track stl. The T 12 Motor Gun Carriage was an early US Army response to armour tactic seen during the Battle of France. The T12 mounted a 75 mm gun on the chassis of the M3 Half-track. The T12 first served in the Philippines in 1942 with the Provisional Field Artillery Brigade in the anti-tank and the fire-support role. It then served in North Africa where it was used ineffectively in the Battle of Kasserine Pass and several other engagements, but was used with success in the Battle of El Guettar. It later served in the invasion of Sicily, but was eventually superseded by the M10 tank destroyer. The T12 also served in the Pacific, starting with the Battle of Saipan. It proved effective against the Japanese tanks, later serving in the Battle of Okinawa, the Battle of Peleliu and many other island battles.A total of 2,203 were produced, of which 1,361 were converted back into M3A1 half-tracks.

The most recent Bolt Action Campaign book – Italy – Soft Underbelly – gives us new rules for the T 12 – namely the Ranger Force “Darby’s Ace in the Hole” (p. 116). This selection allows a player to “shoot and scoot” – fire and then conduct a reverse move on a “fire” order.
