Case Blue focuses on the Axis offensives through Eastern Ukraine and into the North Caucasus - in a bid to secure oil fields that Germany desperately needed. Initial German successes would be stopped by stiff Soviet resistance, culminating in the defining battles in and around the city of Stalingrad.
